Narrative Contradictions: to the History of the Publication of Vasily Grossman’s Essay Dobro Vam: from Travel Notes

The article considers variants of interpretations of the publication history of V. S. Grossman's essay “Dobro Vam: From Travel Notes”. The polemic between A. G. Bocharov, the author of the book about Grossman, and N. A. Gonchar, who published this essay in the journal “Literary Armenia”, is considered. It is proved that the history of the publication of the essay was presented inaccurately in the emigrant and then in the Soviet press; in particular, the information that there was no fragment devoted to anti-Semitism in the publication of “Literary Armenia” was erroneous. We analyze the reasons why most literary scholars still ignore the information about the first journal publication proposed by the participant of the editorial preparation and documented.
