Abstract

The paper analyzes in detail the concept of “Machiavellianism” — a constantly emerging and growing giant intellectual segment that combines historical, psychological and philosophical interpretations with frankly vulgar ideological speculations. Modern concepts of personality are being explored, the synthesis of which is well represented in the works of Hans Jürgen Eysenck. W. Colman’s theory of symbols is also analyzed because of its great contribution to understanding the reasons why Machiavelli’s personality gradually began to turn into a kind of symbol that characterizes the process of forming a very specific “cultural code” of human thinking and behavior. The authors also examine the reasons why modern discussions around the personality and cultural heritage of Machiavelli are increasingly moving into a very specific theoretical area called “political pedagogy”.
