Abstract

The article is devoted to a codicological study of a manuscript known as “Alphabetical list of medicines with an indication of their cost”. This source was created at the Apothecary Chancery (Aptekarskii Prikaz) (a medical state institution of Russia in the Early Modern time) in the middle of the 17th century, as evidenced by paleographic and filigraphic data, as well as the content of the text. The particular value of this monument is that the information about the nomenclature of almost three hundred medicines and their price is summarized in it for a short period of time, which opens the possibility of comparatives and statistical analysis of these data. The article for the first time provides arguments in favor of the dating of this source, based on the paleographic and codicological analysis of the document, as well as a comparison of prices, using statistical methods.
