Abstract

The article is devoted to the developing of modernism in Arabic prose and the art of one of the most prominent figures of this trend - Edwar al-Kharrat (1926-2015). The end of the dominance of the classical novel exactly in the first half of the 20th century and the turn of the generation of the 60s to new artistic techniques is directly associated with the historical events of 1967 (Six-Day War). It is noted that one of the consequences of these events for literature was the change of discourse - from revival (an-Nahda) to defeat (an-Naksa).

The artistic method of Edwar al-Kharrat is characterized in detail on the examples of his early story “Station” and the novel “Rama and the Dragon”, which was included in the top ten Arabic-language novels of all time by the Union of Arab Writers. The authors distinguish thematic blocks in the works of al-Kharrat: the eternal themes of love, life and suffering, which are passed through Hellenistic and Middle Eastern mythologies and Christian philosophy. Such techniques of al-Kharrat as playing with the chronotope, narration through the subjective perception, attention to sensations, replacing the plot with a description, using dichotomy - the opposition of male and female, Christianity and Islam etc. are highlighted.

Also the authors stress the significance of al-Kharrat's theoretical works on literature, where the artistic method, defined by him as a “new sensibility” and opposed by critics to what was called “al-Mahfuzia”, is comprehended. The question is raised about the role of al-Kharrat in the history of the latest literature of the Arab countries, while the authors try to remove the contradiction that is seen in the inimitability of al-Kharrat and his simultaneous fundamental influence on subsequent generations of prose writers.

1 ВВЕДЕНИЕ
2 Арабская литература имела самобытный путь развития, предопределенный рядом объективных исторических причин и культурологических особенностей - ранний расцвет поэзии в доисламскую эпоху, закрепление языковых норм в Коране уже в VII в., стремительные арабские завоевания, приведшие в итоге к небывалому научному и культурному подъему, а затем длительная стагнация и др. При этом арабская литература долгое время была рассинхронизирована с европейскими национальными литературами, которые принято делить на периоды - Античности, Средневековья, Возрождения, Романтизма, Классицизма и т.д.
3 Первым классическим в европейском понимании арабоязычным романом был назван, как известно, роман в духе Ж.-Ж.Руссо «Зейнаб» пера египетского политика и журналиста Мухаммеда Хусейна Хейкаля, напечатанный в 1913 г. Однако XX в. с его гуманитарными потрясениями, войнами и глобализацией стал временем, когда арабские авторы в поиске новых форм выражения уже не учились и подражали, а стали экспериментировать с последними тенденциями мировой литературы. Как отмечала специалист по египетской литературе, российский литературовед-востоковед В.Н.Кирпиченко, время показало, что творчество писателей новой волны не стало «бурей в стакане, простым подражанием европейской литературной моде» и с ростом индивидуального мастерства писателей, египетская литература «за последние полвека фактически полностью интегрировалась в мировой литературный процесс» [1, с. 9-10].
4 Одна из важнейших фигур зародившегося в середине прошлого века арабского модернизма в прозе крупных форм - египетский прозаик Эдвар аль-Харрат. Он поднял современные художественные техники и приемы на новые высоты уже на арабской культурной почве и египетском материале, явив концепцию «новой чувственности», которая оказывает влияние на характер стиля арабских писателей по сей день.
5 «АН-НАКСА» И ЛИТЕРАТУРНЫЕ ПРОЦЕССЫ КОНЦА 1960-х - НАЧАЛА 1970-х
6 Та тяжелая атмосфера, которая повисла в египетском обществе после поражения в стремительной и тем более ошеломляющей Шестидневной войне 1967 г., в ходе которой Египет временно лишился своих территорий на Синае, не могла не проникнуть и на страницы художественных произведений. Эти трагические для всего Арабского мира события глубоко осмыслялись и эмоционально переживались в работах арабоязычных авторов и становились отправной точкой для новаторства и экспериментов с художественными формами.
7 Писатели откликнулись на произошедшее непосредственно произведениями, посвященными этим событиям и их последствиям, как роман Нагиба Махфуза (1911-2006) «Любовь под дождем» (al-hubb tahta al-matar, 1973), в котором герои любят, хранят верность или изменяют в уже павшем духом обществе, или роман заключенного в тюрьму с 1959 по 1964 гг. за участие в левом движении Саналлаха Ибрагима (р. 1937 г.) «67», где выражена вся горечь национального поражения. Книга была написана в 1968 г., но вышла в свет почти полвека спустя из-за цензуры.
