Efficiency of the herbicides application after grain maize seedlings

Abstract

Edaphoclimatic conditions of the Ryazan Oblast allows for consistent corn grain yields of more than 90 centner per hectare. Researchers consider that corn yields increase depends by 50% on nutrients provision of plants and pest, disease and weed management, by 25% on soil treatment quality, and by 25% on varietal features of cultivated varieties and hybrids. During vegetative stage weeds present in wide-row sowing of corn actively compete with the crop for nutrients and moisture reserve in the soil. Based on multi-year research of the institute the yield losses of corn grain due to weeds in absence of protective measures reach 30-50%. Results of biannual field experiments are given for the study of effectiveness of herbicide application after corn germination with a goal of weed infestation reduction and yield rate improvement of crops. These studies took place in OOO “Svet” of Ryazhskii district of the Ryazan Oblast. Soil: leached chernozem, humus content of 5.2%, pH level of 6.0, potassium and phosphorus content is average. Area of cultivated plot is 10.0 ha, area of control plot – 0.2 ha, and accounted area is 10 m2, replication – quadruple. Cultivar of corn – Klarissa, seeding rate – 25 kg/ha, previous crop – winter wheat. Agricultural techniques employed in the experiment: application of nitrophoska – 1 centner/ha, ammonium nitrate – 2 centner/ha, harrowing after autumn plowing, cultivation, planting by precision seed drill. In 2016 the following tank mixture was applied to protect corn crops from weed infestation: Egida – 48%, VDG (AVG 0193) – 0.25 kg/ha + Dublon – 4%, SK – 1.4 l/ha, and commercial formulation Elumis – 10.5%, MD – 1.5 l/ha; in 2017 tank mixture: Egida, VDG – 0.2 kg/ha + Dublon, SK – 1.0 l/ha, and Elumis, MD – 1.3 l/ha. It has been established that the investigated herbicides were efficient in reducing weed infestation of the crops and in increasing the yield of corn grain by 36-58 centner/ha.
