Abstract | According to Leo Strauss, true political philosophy should be built on the foundation of pre-science and pre-philosophy. The concepts of pre-science and pre-philosophy are the very nature of being. This is the direct provision of life on which natural law is based - the core of the entire content of political philosophy. The philosophical principles of Strauss were formed in the era of the Weimar Republic (1919 - 1933). Being a German Jew who grew up on the idea of a crisis of “theology-politics”, Strauss began by searching for solutions to contemporary Jewish problems, criticizing the scheme of liberal assimilation, the ideology of Zionism and the enlightenment of modernity. This served as the basis for a deep philosophical analysis, becoming the beginning of the research of Plato’s political philosophy. The Jewish question is the background, the starting point of Strauss's research and an important key, which opens up an effective way for us to understand the present, and even unites us. Showing the relationship between traditional Chinese culture and modern Western civilization, with important conclusions. |
