Abstract | On August 13–20, 2018, the 24th World Philosophical Congress (WFC) was held in Beijing (China) with the main theme “Learning to be Human”. For the first time such a forum was held in 1900 in Paris. Philosophers from different countries gathered, including such outstending thinkers of the time as Henri Bergson, Georg Simmel, Henri Poincaré, Paul Natorp, Hans Vaihinger, Bertrand Russell, and others. The Paris Congress changed their lives, a lot of them met there and became friends. Subsequently, such congresses, with interruptions due to the First and Second World Wars, were held every 4 years. Since 1948, when the International Federation of Philosophical Societies (FISP) was established, the philosophical congresses became known as the World Congresses, and since then they have been held under the auspices of this organization every 5 years. The authors comprehend the main events and topics that have become the focus of attention of the congress participants in Beijing in the context of modern problems of globalization. |
