Abstract | As part of the Mezhigor'e hoard, which consists of adornments in the style of East European Enameled Ornaments (second half 2nd – 4th century AD) there are two objects that have been identified as unusual pendants for a long time. The author interprets these objects as disc-shaped cheek-pieces dating back to the end of the 1st and 2nd centuries AD and which were known in the Roman provinces along the Rhine and Danube. This interpretation allows us to identify new aspects of the problems of chronology and the emergence of the phenomenon of objects of the East European Enameled Ornaments style, as well as take a fresh look at the composition of the Mezhigor'e hoard and similar hoards. |
