Abstract | The Western Hemisphere migration flows have started to transform a few years before the pandemic. The two centers of mobility tension – The crisis of Central American migrant caravans and the Venezuelan migration crisis are examples of this transformation. The closure of borders as well as the economic activity decline have inflicted a negative impact on the migration causes and conditions. The initially antiimmigration policy of D. Trump´s administration was replaced by a sanitary policy after the pandemic start. Despite the mobility limitations, the intensity of U.S. Southwest Border apprehensions has reached a prepandemic level by 2021. The Joe Biden's Administration new immigration reform initiatives may attract an active resistance in Congress on this background. |
