In the context of global strategic instability and the rise of non-Western countries American elite uses Trump factor, NATO allies’ contribution, “Russian threat”, hybrid wars, sanctions, trade wars and energy demand as the instrument of strengthening American leadership. The major contradictions and key trends of non-linear process of transatlantic relations are scrutinized. In the light of changes on two sides of Atlantic – the phenomenon of Trumpism, the rise of national and populist movement, diminishing American leadership, EU increasing autonomy the recommendations concerning Russian multidimensional foreign policy are made.
