Abstract

The article considers the dynamics of the number and growth of scientific qualifications of women sociologists in Russian science. The study of the main personnel trends in the development of sociological science is based on statistics of the Russian Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) in the post‑Soviet period (1995‑2020). It is shown that the dynamics of the number of researchers in all areas of Russian science during this period is characterized by a dominant trend of personnel decline and has decreased, on average, by 34%. Unlike the dominant trend of personnel reduction in Russian science as a whole, the number of researchers in sociological science has not only not decreased, but on the contrary, increased by 59%. As a result, at the beginning of 2020, two-thirds of Russian sociologists (62%) employed in the field of science were women. The increase of the proportion of women in sociological science was also expressed in a sharp increase of the proportion of women with high scientific qualifications: candidates and doctors of sciences. This was especially boldly seen on the example of doctors of sciences ‑ their number increased 17 times: from 6 people in 1995 to 102 people in 2020, which quantified 37% of the total number of all doctors of sciences employed in sociological science.
