Abstract

The Round Table “Trajectories of Global and Russian Theoretical Sociology Evolution” has been held on June 2, 2021, under auspices of the Academic Council of the Social Sciences Section, Russian Academy of Sciences, RAS Institute of Sociology, Federal Center for Theoretical and Applied Sociology, Russian Society “Community of Professional Sociologists” with participation of the journals “Sociological Studies” and “Sociological Journal” in remote format. The topics suggested for the discussion were as follows:

1. What principal changes are underway in the global and Russian theoretical sociology? How do Marxist, positivist, public, postmodern, global etc. sociologies fare?

2. What processes are characteristic of Russian sociology today?

3. Teaching theoretical sociology in the universities of the world and in Russia as an indicator of overall trends.

The Round Table was chaired by RAS corresponding member Zhan T. Toshchenko and Professor Nikita E. Pokrovsky. The materials of the Round Table are published above.
