Abstract

In anticipation of the 45th anniversary of the journal "Sociological research" readers are offered (partly autobiographical) review of the journal publications over the past 20-25 years in the field of theoretical sociology. The article presents results of an analysis of the relevant sections of the journal and activities carried out in recent decades to raise the theoretical level of Russian sociological knowledge. First, efforts to prepare journal sections related to theoretical sociology are highlighted, then the scientific results of these efforts are summarized; the characteristic of the state of modern sociological theories as it is seen in the light of the analyzed publications and author's views of prospects for development of theoretical sociology in our country are offered.
