Sanskrit Glasses of European Linguistics

The research is devoted to the influence of Sanskrit and the principles of language description developed in ancient Indian grammar by Panini upon European linguistics of the 19^th and 20^th centuries. The studying of the basic ideas about the structure of language and the methods of linguistic analysis proposed in ancient Indian grammars makes it possible to speak about the influence of the ideas of Sanskrit grammarians on the formation of comparativistic studies, typology and even structural approach in European linguistics.
