Abstract

The article discusses some features of actant and non-actant metonymy, complementing their main differences. It is noted that the set and content of actants depends on the semantic valence of the verb producing Nomina actionis. Inactive metonymy, its activity and other features are due only to the existence of certain realities. It is also established that the meanings of some types of actant and non-actant metonymy are not embodied in verbal units and therefore are not marked in explanatory dictionaries.

KeywordsActant and non-actant substantive metonymy, inversely directed metonymy (from actant to action), types of metonymy that do not generate verbal units
