Abstract

The article discusses the main topics, personalities and events touched upon in the long-term epistolary dialogue between Alexander Alekseevich Izmailov (1873-1921) and Hieronymus Hieronymovich Yasinsky (1850-1931), whose names are extremely significant for the history of the Russian literature and journalism of the late 19^th — early 20^th century. Apart from highlighting the nuances of their relationship and clarifying certain instances of their life stories, the correspondence between the two writers describes the literary field as a whole, since Izmailov and Yasinsky determined the policies of the major popular editions and were instrumental in shaping the literary reputations of the writers of various trends in 1890s—1910s.
