Abstract

The purpose of the work is to identify the difference and similarity of the phenomena of feat and heroism. The connection of phenomena with two different cultures is shown — Western European and Russian (Orthodox), which led to their differences at the social and individual psychological levels. The author focuses on the phenomenon of feat, revealing it as the most important condition of heroism. The hypothesis is put forward about the psychological essence of the feat as a shift in the motivational-need sphere. It is noted that in the light of the Orthodox cultural tradition, such a shift appears in the format of the task (norm) of mental ontogenesis.
