Abstract

The current transformations and problems of modernity reveal the hidden potential of the psychology of the subject, which makes the category “subject” especially significant and relevant both in psychology and in humanities. The purpose of the article is to examine the problem of the subject from the perspective of the cultural-analytical approach; to analyze the concepts of “subject”, “subjectness” and “subjectivity”; to discuss the development of the subject's psychology in the perspective of a transdisciplinary approach. There is a connection between an intellectual heritage by A.V. Brushlinsky and modern psychology. It is proved that the “subject” is a connecting category both in the field of general psychological knowledge and in the sphere of socio-humanitarian research. Latent changes of subjectness and subjectivity become visible at the intersection of psychology and humanities. Each epistemological turn in the field of socio-humanitarian knowledge revealed new perspectives of the subject's understanding; the model of a single and self-identical subjectivity has been replaced by the idea of the design and representation of a multitude of subjectivities, primarily due to the current changes. Modern anthropological studies reveal latent processes in Russian society: the birth of subjectivity, personal autonomy, psychological and civic maturity. The focus of the contemporary humanities presents a subject who changes from modern to postmodern and acquires ever more differentiated qualities in this process. All this stimulates psychology to revise and clarify the terms describing nowadays human. The relevance of the subject's psychology capable of solving the tasks of today is justified in this article.
