Abstract

Different approaches of predicting the impact of new technologies on society are suggested. The possible socio-psychological consequences of new technologies introduction in everyday life are considered at various levels of socio-psychological analysis: personality, interpersonal relations, group, intergroup relations, society. At the level of an individual the development of digital technologies increases the degree of human awareness of those interpersonal and intergroup technologies that previously remained beyond his attention; an advances self-identity is being formed, etc. At the level of interpersonal relationships, new technologies lead to narrowing the boundaries of intimate and public, internal and external worlds. In small and large contact groups the constructing of group identity becomes easier, due to its basing on the commonality of attitude to specific events, on collective feelings, etc. At the level of intergroup relations, new technologies make information about their own and others' groups more accessible, expanding the foundations of social categorization and intergroup comparison. At the level of society, new technologies are associated with hopes for improving social institutions functioning, with expectations for renovation in various areas of modern society, etc. Promising areas of social and psychological research on the of human–technologies interaction are outlined.
