Patonian Square To the 100th anniversary of academician B.E.Paton

The article is devoted to the 100-th anniversary of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (NASU) and simul-taneously to the 100-th anniversary of academician B.E.Paton, President of NASU and Head of the Paton Electric Welding Institute of NASU (PWI). National Academy of Sciences is an important symbol of Ukrainian State from its foundation till nowadays. NASU had an essential influence as important systemforming national center and also contributed to the consolidation of society and identification of resources for its development. PWI was founded by academician E.O.Paton, father of B.E.Paton. The Institute is a largest R&D Center in the field of welding and allied technologies. For a quarter of century academic B.E.Paton headed International Association of Academies of Sciences which was established in 1993 by the initiative of NASU to combine on multilateral basis efforts of Academies of Sciences to find solutions for most important scientific problems, preserve the historically established academic links, and expand new relations among researches.
