Abstract

Based on materials collected in 1992–2007 and 2013–2018 the tiger (Panthera tigris) lifestyle at the Khekhtsir island ridge is described. Examples on the behavior of specific tigers (hunting, attitudes toward humans), types  ofshelters, etc., are given. This predator can inhabit densely populated areas without conflicting with humans if there is a vast protected forest area with a high number of ungulates. The grouping of tigers at the Khekhtsir can only be supported by the animals coming from the Sikhote-Alin. The future of the tiger at the Khekhtsir depends not only on the situation developing in this territory, but also on the state of the Sikhote-Alin predator population.
