Life Satisfaction, Civic Identity and Acculturation Expectations of the Host Population of Moscow

Abstract

This paper is devoted the role of civic identity in ethnic diversity acceptance and acculturation expectations of the host population. We place special focus on the level of life satisfaction of the host population as we expect it to moderate the relationship between civic identity and attitudes towards ethnic diversity and migrants. The study involved 219 representatives of the host population Moscow (66 males and 153 females, from 16 to 68 years old, average age – 28,5 years) which were born or living in Moscow for more than 10 years. The results of multigroup path analysis show that among host population representatives with a low level of life satisfaction civic identity is negatively related to a positive attitude towards ethnic diversity. While among host population representatives with a high level of life satisfaction civic identity is not associated with a positive attitude towards ethnic diversity. Besides, that we found that attitudes towards ethnic diversity, mediate the relationship between civic identity and acculturation expectations among representatives of the host population with a low level of life satisfaction. The results of the study underscore the importance of taking into account the well-being of people when studying their relations with members of other cultural groups

1 Миграция и интеграция мигрантов – серьезный вызов для России в связи со стремительным притоком в страну представителей иных культур. Согласно последним данным Международной организации по миграции, Россия расположилась на третьем месте в мире по числу иммигрантов (http://publications.iom.int/bookstore/free/Migration_Initiatives2015.pdf). Такое положение дел обусловливает важность проведения грамотной политики взаимной адаптации мигрантов и принимающего населения. Необходимым условием успеха будет не только повышение уровня интеграционных установок среди мигрантов, но и готовность принимающего населения к межкультурному взаимодействию с инокультурными мигрантами. Связано это с тем, что успешность адаптации мигрантов зависит не только от их стратегий поведения в новом обществе, но и от аккультурационных ожиданий того, как должны мигранты включаться в жизнь принимающего общества и проходить аккультурацию в нем [Montreuil, Bourhis, Vanbeselaere 2004; Berry, 2006].
2 Согласно теории Д. Бери, аккультурационные ожидания принимающего общества образованы пересечением двух измерений: отношения к сохранению культуры мигрантов и отношения к межкультурным контактам с ними. Представители принимающего общества, придерживающиеся аккультурационного ожидания интеграции (мультикультурализма), поощряют мигрантов одновременно сохранять свое культурное наследие и поддерживать контакты с представителями принимающего населения. Другие же представители принимающего общества, придерживающиеся ассимиляции (плавильного котла), ожидают от мигрантов отказа от своего культурного наследия и взаимодействия в основном с представителями принимающего общества. Сторонники сегрегации выступают за сохранение мигрантами их культурного наследия, но не поощряют их контакты с представителями принимающего общества. Сторонники же исключения не приветствуют сохранение мигрантами их культуры в принимающем обществе, а также возражают против их контактов с представителями принимающего общества [Berry, 2006]. Исходя из выше сказанного, необходимость изучения предикторов аккультурационных ожиданий принимающего населения и его отношения к этническому разнообразию становится очевидной.
3 В настоящее время исследований, посвященных данной проблематике, мало, и порой они носят противоречивый характер. Из существующих стоит отметить пласт работ о предпочтении тех или иных аккультурационных ожиданий: ощущаемой принимающим населением угрозы в предпочтении тех или иных аккультурационных ориентаций [Bourhis, Dayan 2004; Montreuil, Bourhis 2001; Piontkowski, Rohmann, Florack 2002]; мультикультурной идеологии [Lebedeva, Tatarko, Berry 2016a]; межкультурных контактов [Lebedeva, Tatarko, Berry 2016b]; индивидуальных ценностей [Лепшокова, Вылегжанина 2017]; идентичности [Лебедева, 2009; Лебедева, Татарко 2009а; Лепшокова 2012].
4 Особое внимание хочется обратить на исследования, посвященные роли идентичности принимающего населения на их установки по отношению к мигрантам. Если ясно, что этническая идентичность представителей принимающего населения может вести как к интеграции (при условии ее позитивности и низком уровне воспринимаемой угрозы), так и к ассимиляции мигрантов (при низком уровне позитивности этнической идентичности и высоком уровне воспринимаемой угрозы) [Лебедева, Татарко 2009а, Лепшокова 2012], то с гражданской идентичностью не все так просто.
