Abstract

The problem of hypersonic motion, destruction and fragmentation of Sikhote-Alin bolide in the atmosphere under the influence of power and thermal loads is studied numerically. Two mechanisms of heat transfer from the gas to the surface of the celestial body were taken into account – convective and radiation, with the study of the priority of each of them on different parts of the trajectory of the fall. The process of progressive fragmentation of the bolide was considered in the model of sequential crushing. At the final stage of the fall, the process of breaking small fragments into dust due to temperature stresses was taken into account. Qualitatively correct reflection of the results of calculations of the real process of fragmentation of the bolide is noted.
