Abstract

The article analyzes the political impact of Treaty of Tlatelolco (Treaty for the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons in Latin America and the Caribbean) over the last fifty years. The achievements as well as the problems of realization of the first nuclear-weapon free zone in the densely populated region of the Earth come under scrutiny. The author concludes that Treaty of Tlatelolco greatly contributed to the idea of NWFZ, which include over 100 states in different regions.
