Russia and Brazil: military-political ties against the background of the strategic partnership

The formation of the strategic partnership between Russia and Brazil started at the beginning of the XXI century and had been actively developing throughout centre-left period of governance. The strategic partnership between the countries implies active cooperation between the countries in various spheres, including military and political. Interaction in this area is one of the indicators of the high-level cooperation between the states as it includes such specific aspects as supply of military equipment and armament, mutual training and mutual sending of military specialists, conduction of joint exercises and development of joint defense technologies. This article describes the main forms of military and political interaction between Russia and Brazil against the back-ground of the strategic partnership that has been developing for a long time, as well as gives the assessment of the achieved level of cooperation in this sphere. Besides, it examines the prospects of military and political interaction between the countries as Jair Bolsonaro came to power in Brazil, changing the vector of both domestic and foreign policy of the country.
