Abstract

The article is dedicated to the analysis of the drastic changes in US politics towards Latin America after D.Trump came to power. It refers to the crisis in the relations with Mexico and the impact on it of the problems of migration across this country from the Central American region, growing economic sanctions against Cuba, efforts to destabilize the regime of N.Maduro in Venezuela. Special attention is paid to the attempts of the Trump’s administration to enlarge its influence in the region making use of the turn to the right of the political situation in the leading Latin American countries such as Argentina, Chile, Brazil and Colombia, and its efforts to convert them in strategic partners. Another object of the analysis is the role of such extra regional powers as China and European Union in limiting the growing influence of the United State in this part of the world.
