Social and political polarization in Latin America: reasons, consequences, and possibilities to overcome

The article presents an overview of the presentations at the round table “Divided Society in Latin America and the Possibilities for Resolving Political and Social Conflicts (National and Regional Experience)” held at the Institute for Latin America of RAS. In the 21st century, becomes one of the most important problems in the development of the state and society. Speakers from ILA and other scientific centers discussed the phenomenon of a divided society, various models of polarization (political, social, economic, ethnic), searching for mechanisms and tools to overcome conflict potential in modern societies based on the Latin American experience.
