Abstract

The article is dedicated to the peculiarities of the urbanization process in Brazil. It reveals the specifics of this process and its main stages in comparative perspective. It deals with three Brazilian cities - Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Brasilia. The basic social and environmental problems of Brazilian cities are presented, attempts of their solution and urbanization trends in Brazil are considered.
