Аннотация

В данной статье рассматривается преподавание истории рабства и империи в школах и университетах Танзании. В центре внимания - учебная программа и учебные планы по истории в университетах, чтобы показать, как темы рабства и империи преподавались в Танзании на протяжении последних пяти десятилетий развития исторического знания в Танзании. Автор пытается продемонстрировать, что доминирование националистических и материалистических традиций, определявших изучение танзанийского прошлого, вытеснило рабство на периферию танзанийской истории. В результате рабство как тема и аналитическая учебная категория осталось на задворках истории, изучаясь просто как часть способа производства. В итоге автор намерен показать, что ограниченное внимание к преподаванию рабства и империи в танзанийских школах и университетах следует понимать с точки зрения национальных императивов, а также природы и характера учебных программ и планов по истории, которые уделяли этим темам относительно меньше внимания.
