The Anniversary of the Bolshevik Revolution: Commemorating the 7th November in the Communist Party of Chile, 1935—1970

This article analyzes the ways in which the Communist Party of Chile commemorated November 7 between the years 1935—1970, under the understanding that the anniversary of the Bolshevik Revolution became one of the central axes of the communist political culture, since it had relationship both with the assessment of the October Revolution and its ideological impact as well as with the process of appropriation and dissemination of Sovietism in the Chilean communist militancy. Indeed, the commemorations of the Bolshevik Revolution played a fundamental role in the Chilean communist world, whose press organs were responsible for disseminating the debates and discussions generated by national and foreign communist leaders around the place that this event should occupy during the different historical processes that marked those decades, especially the anti-fascist struggle, the Popular Front, the Spanish Civil War, the Second World War and the Cold War.

Este artículo analiza las maneras en el Partido Comunista de Chile conmemoró el 7 de noviembre entre los años 1935—1970, bajo el entendido de que el aniversario de la Revolución Bolchevique se constituyó en uno de los ejes centrales de la cultura política comunista, pues tenía relación tanto con la valoración de la Revolución de Octubre y su impacto ideológico como también con el proceso de apropiación y divulgación del sovietismo en la militancia comunista chilena. En efecto, las conmemoraciones de la Revolución Bolchevique tuvieron un papel fundamental en el mundo comunista chileno, cuyos órganos de prensa se encargaron de difundir los debates y las discusiones generados por dirigentes comunistas nacionales y extranjeros en torno al lugar que debía ocupar esa efeméride durante los distintos procesos históricos que marcaron aquellas décadas, especialmente la lucha antifascista, el Frente Popular, la Guerra Civil Española, la Segunda Guerra Mundial y la Guerra Fría.
