Abstract

The article presents the results of the study of the territorial organization of the largest volost’ of Udomlya, which belonged to the Archbishop of Novgorod before the annexation of the Novgorod land to the Moscow state. A comparative analysis of the cadastral books of 1498/1499, 1551, 1582/1583 and 1626/1627 was made. The work use geoinformation technologies. The dynamics in the composition of the parishes was traced. The landowners who received the Udomlya lands in the second half of the 16th century were identified. The local estates were received шт 1560—1570s mainly by the “Tatars”, as well as “Yuryev and Govey Cossacks” and their descendants after the abandonment of Livonia in 1582. These estates were localized. The size of the Udomlya’s estates was very small and included, as a rule, 2—3 villages. By the time of the 1582/1583 description, there were only 17 inhabited villages in Udomlya that were the part of the estates. The vast majority of the localities were empty. In the 17th century, the degree of desolation of the land remained the same.
