Образы власти в публичном пространстве Англии при реставрации монархии Стюартов (начало 1660-х гг.)

В статье рассмотрены особенности публичной трансляции властных образов в начальный период Реставрации монархии Стюартов на примере торжественного въезда английского короля Карла II Стюарта в Лондон накануне его коронации, 22 апреля 1661 года. К этому событию в центре города были сооружены четыре триумфальные арки, в убранстве которых были использованы символы и аллегории, связанные с восстановлением английской монархии. На основе широкого круга источников (официальные описания торжеств, гравюры, поэтические произведения, дневники современников событий — Дж. Ивлина, С. Пипса и Р. Джосселина) в статье были выявлены характерные особенности репрезентации образов власти в начале правления Карла II. Во-первых, важную роль в конструировании этих образов играло обращение к античному наследию, главным образом — к сочинениям римского поэта Вергилия. В пространстве изучаемых арок Англия представала как новая империя, идущая на смену Римской, а Карл II Стюарт - как новый Август. Во-вторых, подобно своим предшественникам, Елизавете Тюдор, Якову I и Карлу I, Карл II стремился представить свое грядущее правление как новый «Золотой век» — эпоху спокойствия, процветания и изобилия. Наступление «Золотого века» должно было подвести черту под периодом гражданских войн, Республики и Протектората — временем «хаоса», «запустения» и «разногласий». Символическое наполнение арок позволяет понять, как наследие периода «Междуцарствия» преломлялось в официальной риторике эпохи Реставрации. Наконец, изображения на триумфальных арках отражали планы и амбиции нового правительства, представляя собой своего рода «манифест» новой монархии.
