This text is an analytical review of the International academic and practical conference “Feats of Arms and Charity by Representatives of the Romanov Imperial Family”, (Perm, August 20, 2020) devoted to the history of the Romanov imperial dynasty, its members’ service to Russia and charity activities. The Conference was organized by the Institute of World History (Russian Academy of Sciences) in collaboration with the Government of the Perm Region, the “Elizaveta and Sergei Educational Society” Foundation and the Perm State Archive on Socio-political history. The relevance of the event is based on the need to study and preserve traditional values inherent to Russia’s history. The presentations were devoted to the Imperial Family members’ participation in World War I: the military service of Grand Duke Sergei Alexandrovich, the activities of Grand Duke Michael Alexandrovich as the commander of the Caucasus Native Cavalry Division, the compassionate service of August female representatives of the Romanov dynasty as sisters of mercy, the establishment of charitable institutions in the city of Perm under the Romanov family patronage, and other related topics. A special part of the conference dealt with the history of the “White Flower” charity action, the topic of Christian flower symbols in the charity campaigns patronized by the Romanov Imperial Family, the history of the Goodness and Mercy Festival in Perm, and the renaissance of “White Flower” in Russia. The conference opened the series of academic, public and charity events entitled “The Romanovs’ Days in Perm”.
