“The Righteous Live Forever…” (January 24—25, 2019, St. Petersburg)

On January 24—25, 2019, in the year marking the 100th anniversary of martyrdom of the Romanovs — eighteen members of the royal family who fell victim to the revolutionary terror of 1918—1919 — the Foundation for Support of Mercy and Charity Traditions “The Elizabeth and Sergiy Educational Society” in collaboration with the Institute of Universal History (Russian Academy of Sciences) and with the support of the Russian Ministry of Culture, the Administration of St. Petersburg and the Moscow Government organized an international academic conference “The Righteous Live Forever...” The conference sessions took place at the State Museum of the History of St. Petersburg, located in the Peter and Paul Fortress where Grand Dukes Pavel Aleksandrovich, Dmitrii Konstantinovich, Nikolai Mikhailovich and Georgii Mikhailovich were executed on January 24, 1919. Their tragic death was the final link in the chain of criminal murders of the Romanovs committed by the Bolsheviks and marked the beginning of the “Red Terror” in Russia.
