Abstract

In June of 2023, 50 years have passed since the time of the establishment of the European single market for financial services. The EU is the example of supranational organization, which was the first in the world to assign and largely accomplish the task of building a deeply integrated single market for financial services. This article provides a historical and legal analysis of the main stages of the development of the EU single market for financial services from the standpoint of categorization of its fundamental features, which include systematic and program-oriented approaches, the combination of harmonized and uniform legal regulation, the shaping of the unique system of financial regulation and supervision as well as digitalization.
