Abstract

In 2018, one of the most remarkable Russian lawyers, V.F. Yakovlev, who for many years was the Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation and the Chairman of the Supreme Arbitration Court of the Russian Federation. The time has come to evaluate the unprecedented contribution that he made to domestic jurisprudence, to the development of Soviet and post-Soviet civil legislation, to the legal support of the market economy and domestic justice. The purpose of the article is to analyze the main directions of the long-term intense and multifaceted activity of the great scientist, and the tasks are to characterize his most significant scientific achievements, which have largely changed various areas of Russian jurisprudence. When solving these problems, the method of materialistic dialectics, scientific analysis, the method of synthesis, deduction and the systemic method were used. On the basis of the research carried out, it is concluded that the contribution of V.F. Yakovlev in the development and improvement of Soviet and post-Soviet civil science is unique, because an unprecedentedly broad nature was the scale of the issues he investigated, relating not only to Civil Law, but also to the legal system as a whole, to the concept and essence of the Rule of Law, to the economy and to justice carried out in arbitration courts and courts of general jurisdiction. The contribution of V.F. Yakovlev in the development of the doctrine of the interdependence and interaction of Private and Public Law, the method of civil law regulation, and the main institutions of Intellectual Property Law. Even during his lifetime, he was unanimously recognized as one of the most outstanding Russian lawyers, V.F. Yakovlev left us not only a harmonious system of post-Soviet civil legislation, the creation and improvement of which was carried out with his active participation, many ideas and remarkable achievements, but also a unique moral example of valiant service to the chosen cause.
