Abstract

In this article considered problems and prospects for improving the process of crime investigation and the administration of justice with the help of the achievements of scientific progress. These tools become particularly relevant in the process of proving during criminal proceedings, as well as when storing and archiving the information received, since it may become in demand over time. The article examines the issue of using as evidence information from social network databases, Internet video content, mobile applications, geodata, financial intelligence methods, etc., which can be obtained for the purpose of investigating crimes not only by preliminary investigation bodies and courts, but also by ordinary citizens - random witnesses of crimes or Internet users. In this regard, the compliance of the existing norms of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation concerning evidence with the procedure for using information obtained through the use of technologies as evidence is analyzed.
