Abstract

The article deals with the debatable problem of determining the criteria for the typology of States, their features that provide an objective comprehensive study of the classification of state-legal phenomena, identifying the processes of their historical formation and development. Establishing the basic requirements for the criteria of the typology of States allows us to identify common patterns of development of many States and specific features that distinguish some types of States from others. The author comes to the conclusion that in the modern era, along with scientific concepts that interpret traditional criteria for the typology of States, new scientific approaches are emerging that allow for a deeper, multi-sided understanding of the typology of States.
