Abstract

The article discusses the relationship between the concepts of “innovation” and “innovation activity”. The author proposes the following signs (criteria) of innovation, which can be the basis for their legislative consolidation: the novelty of the object; the possibility of practical applicability to achieve a socio-economic effect; economic efficiency (in comparison with already known, available solutions); compliance with existing legal and ethical rules and regulations. We study a narrow and broad understanding of innovation, it is proposed to approach innovation from the standpoint of the life cycle of the innovation product offered to the market. The conclusion is made about the need to develop and consolidate organizational and legal mechanisms and the development of procedures that objectify both the innovations themselves and the economic entities engaged in innovative activity.
