Abstract

The article is devoted to topical issues of agitation activity of electoral associations and candidates. The author investigates the phenomenon of pre-election campaigning as an object and means of legal regulation, formulates the principles of conducting agitation activities stemming from the content of federal electoral legislation. Forms and methods of agitation, their content characteristics, limitations of the subject composition, peculiarities of the legal regime applicable to various methods of agitation were analyzed. Particular attention is paid to the agitation activities of political parties as facilitating the political socialization of the electorate. Opportunities of electoral associations for participation in campaigning in support of nominated candidates were analyzed in the conditions of using the majority and mixed electoral system, proposals were made for further development of the principles of agitation activity.
