Abstract

The article examines the evolution of political events in the Malian crisis, which has been going on since 2012. The resulting acute armed conflict bears an interethnic, religious, political and economic connotation.

The conflict is gradually changing its geography, shifting from the northern regions of Mali to the center of the country and poses a security threat not only to the countries of the Sahara-Sahel subregion, but also to the entire continent and the world community. The conflict continues. There is no security in Mali, the population is forced to leave their homelands. Refugees move to neighboring states, creating a situation of tension and a humanitarian crisis.

The political situation in the country has recently aggravated, demonstrations are taking place demanding the resignation of the President of Mali, who has failed to promote the implementation of the reconciliation agreement and achieve the necessary national cohesion. International forces operating in Mali are failing. Separatist groups carry out attacks and terrorist attacks against peacekeepers, government troops and civilians.

What is fueling this conflict and what are the ways to resolve it? These questions are relevant today, because the life and well-being of African peoples depends on the elimination of terrorist and extremist forces and ensuring stability in the country.
