Reviewing the monograph Pоsthumannism. Humans in the era of new sociality: metamorphoses, narratives, dilemmas (Moscow, 2021) by Ilya V. Katerny author of the review emphasizes interconnectedness with the issues besetting sociological theory evolution for decades. Analysis of the respective discourse contents reveals current search, or, in G. Steinmetz’s terms – crisis in the academic community of sociologists, as an ongoing process rooted in сhanging social reality and in ensuing sociological theorizing. Vague – so far – contours of emerging sociality (social realities) keep giving rise to numerous challenges for scholars to ponder about, to conceptualize and construct relevant social and sociological theories. The monograph under review states that decisive changes stem from digitalization and robotics making an end of homo sapiens era imminent. Some of the social nova – such as those discussed in environmental sphere - assume qualities threatening humankind’s existence and require urgent actions of global human community.
