Abstract

The article offers an interpretation of the first six poems from the cycle Neskuchny Sad (The Neskuchny Garden) — the second part of B. L. Pasternak’s fourth poetry collection Themes and Variations (Temy i Variatsii) as the first and introductory microcycle of this part. The analysis of the semantics and imagery of each poem reveals the connection between the universal biblical prototype and the theme of the birth of art, the central one for the entire poetry collection.
