Abstract

The note is a postponed homage to the 200^th anniversary of Ya. P. Polonsky, it introduces his unfinished poem into academic circulation. The poem was found in one of the poet’s workbooks, which are kept in the Pushkin House. The epigrammatic nature of the first lines, the Byzantine theme and, most importantly, its location in the notebook next to the analysis of K. Leontiev’s article, suggest that the poem should be read as a dedication to the «Byzantine Russian».
