Abstract

The interest in information about the coronovirus pandemic at the initial stage of its development was studied. It was assumed that in conditions of an objective lack of knowledge about coronavirus infection, the need for prompt and reliable facts about the pandemic, which will inevitably manifest itself in the nature of the search activity of users of search engines on the Internet, will inevitably manifest itself. The study was conducted using the praximetric method in psychology, through an appeal to methods of analyzing the results of already completed actions (queries). The purpose of the study is to establish the psychological patterns of interest in information about the coronovirus pandemic at its initial stage. The object of the study was users of the search engines Yandex and Google, and the subject − the content of user requests with the word "coronavirus" implemented in a pandemic. Based on the leading theoretical provisions on the psychological nature of interest, the main characteristics of the affective and cognitive components of interest in pandemic information that are characteristic of its initial stage are identified and described. In particular, the motives, content, structure and regional features of interest in information about the coronavirus pandemic were identified, as well as the characteristics that determine the direction, stability and strength of the manifestation of such interest are described. A cognitive structure of the orientation of interest has been established, which is characterized by an orientation toward ensuring personal security (of oneself and one's loved ones). The necessity of studying the dynamics of interest in information about a pandemic, as well as the prospects for studying the emotional states of a person in the development of a coronavirus pandemic, is substantiated.
