Abstract

The material dedicated to the memory of Dmitry Vasiliev tells about the activities within the framework of the project called “Digital Libraries and Databases on the History of Eurasia in the Middle Ages” initiated in 1992 by the Society of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The first results of scientific and organizational efforts of the working team of the project under the leadership of D.D. Vasiliev were the Bulletins “Databases on the history of Eurasia in the Middle Ages” and the first conference “Monuments of the spiritual, material and written culture of the ancient and medieval East (creation of databases)”, held in Sofrino in 1995. Over three decades of the project’s existence, eight conferences have been held, including those that were organized jointly with international scientific organizations. Also 13 issues of the bulletin have been published, the experience in computer research in the field of oriental studies has been accumulated and summarized, new research teams have been created, a fruitful scientific cooperation has been established both within Russia and abroad. A good groundwork has been made, which needs to be developed.

1 18 января 2021 года российская наука потеряла выдающегося востоковеда, ведущего тюрколога, новатора в области компьютерных методов в гуманитарных исследованиях, благородного человека и организатора науки, профессора Дмитрия Дмитриевича Васильева. Он являлся автором семи монографий и более 300 научных публикаций по истории Востока и тюркологии, методологии и компьютерным средствам исторических исследований, изданных в десяти странах мира. Научная биография Д.Д. Васильева свидетельствует о его энциклопедическом багаже знаний, высоком профессионализме, огромном трудолюбии и работоспособности.
2 Д.Д. Васильев родился в Москве 11 октября 1946 года. В 1971 году окончил Институт восточных языков МГУ им. М.В. Ломоносова по специальности «история и филология тюркских народов». После окончания университета он связал свою научную биографию с Отделом памятников письменности народов Востока Института востоковедения АН СССР.
3 Трудно переоценить роль Д.Д. Васильева в развитии информационных ресурсов и инструментов исследований в Институте востоковедения. По существу, всю свою жизнь он занимался систематизацией исторических источников, – прежде всего, памятников древнетюркской письменности. Его кандидатская диссертация «Палеографическая систематизация памятников тюркской рунической письменности азиатского ареала», которую он защитил в 1983 году, была посвящена именно этой теме. В том же 1983 г. увидели свет две его книги: «Графический фонд памятников тюркской рунической письменности азиатского ареала» [1] и «Корпус памятников тюркской рунической письменности бассейна Енисея» [2]. Первую монографию можно считать текстовой базой данных, вторую – базой данных изображений.
4 Поэтому, когда в самом начале 1990-х гг. возникла идея обобщить накопленный опыт компьютерных исследований в области востоковедения, Дмитрий Дмитриевич, будучи вице-президентом Общества востоковедов АН СССР (позднее – РАН), не колеблясь, возглавил эту инициативу.
5 Первое совещание, проведённое Обществом востоковедов РАН в конце декабря 1991 г., было посвящено особенностям и перспективам применения персональных компьютеров в востоковедческих исторических исследованиях. В совещании приняли участие представители десяти научных институтов и университетов пяти государств появившегося как раз в эти дни постсоветского пространства. Итогом совещания стало принятие «Программы компьютерных исследований по истории Евразии в средние века», предусматривающей создание комплексной компьютерной информационной системы, состоящей из большого количества фактографических, библиографических и подобных им баз данных по фондам архивохранилищ, рукописных собраний, музеев Европейской и Азиатской России, Средней Азии, Кавказа. В Программе оказались объединены усилия многих специалистов гуманитарного и технического профилей. Цель их – создание современных средств исследования, которые не только максимально облегчат работу с источниками, представленными в различных национальных шрифтовых и алфавитных системах, но и обеспечат их последующий научный анализ. Было решено осуществлять Программу под эгидой Общества востоковедов РАН, поскольку значительное число учёных, изъявивших желание принять участие в Программе, представляет научные и учебные учреждениях ряда суверенных республик.
