Abstract

The article provides a comparative assessment of the socio-economic system of the USSR and today’s Russia. The fi rst was based on the administrative-command fur-ism and different severe ineffi ciencies, which became the primary cause of its historical failure; while the second is based on two mechanisms – the market and administrative, which reduces its effectiveness needs to be reformed. Nevertheless, for all its costs modern Russian political and economic system far exceeds the historically bankrupt the Soviet model.

KeywordsSoviet socio-economic system, ineffi cient, historically insolvent choice, administrative staff, modern Russian reality
