Abstract

The article attempts to analyze some factors that, in the author's opinion, may more or less significantly affect the fate and prospects of D. Trump and his legacy – a set of ideas, program guidelines, forms, methods, means of restructuring the socio-political life and the power system of the United States, which became known under the collective name “Trumpism”. The main attention is focused on substantiating the thesis that the victory of D. Trump, who in the context of the political realities of the United States could be regarded as an outsider, in the presidential elections in November 2016, was not a historical accident, but a natural result of deep shifts in infrastructures of the American society. After analyzing the objective and subjective factors of the struggle for power and the right to choose the paths and prospects of the socio-historical development of the United States between Trumpism and the political platform of J. Biden, the leader of the Democrats, it was concluded that all possible attempts to neutralize and push the Trump legacy to the periphery of social and political life appear to be insolvent. The author sees the essence of the problem in the fact that in the presidential elections of both 2016 and 2020 it was a question of voting for/against not just specific candidates from the Republican and Democratic Parties, but under conditions of a deep crisis, in support of or against the program of social and political development of the country. In the 2020 elections, D. Trump and J. Biden were viewed by the majority of voters as symbols of defenders and opponents of the dominant political, intellectual, media establishment, as well as the so-called “Washington swamp” and a “deep state”. Since the factors that prompted 74 million Americans to vote for Trump have not disappeared, the Democrats led by J. Biden will have to rule America with these realities in mind.

2 Можно ли рассматривать поражение Дональда Трампа, как считают многие его противники, сокрушительным ударом по националистическим силам и популистам в США, Европе, да и во всем мире? С учетом происшедших в Соединенный Штатах событий, связанных с президентскими выборами 2020 г., на этот вопрос можно было бы ответить положительно. Однако положение вещей намного сложнее.
3 Авраам Линкольн, будучи президентом, сказал: “Америка никогда не будет уничтожена внешними силами. Это произойдет лишь в том случае, если мы допустим ошибки и потеряем свою свободу” [1]. Как свидетельствует исторический опыт человечества, так или иначе ошибаются все народы. Но в последние годы создается впечатление, что Америка стала допускать ошибки слишком часто и по-крупному. Об этом наглядное представление можно составить на целой серии серьезных кризисов, в которых страна оказывалась в последние годы. Речь идет прежде всего о бунте против истории под лозунгом “Жизнь черных имеет значение” летом 2017 и весной–летом 2020 г., пандемии COVIG-19 2020–2021 гг., особенно сильно ударившей по США, политическом кризисе, порожденном предполагаемыми злоупотреблениями на президентских выборах в ноябре 2020 г., и также кризисе, связанном с переоценкой основополагающих ценностей и детабуизации морально-нравственной сферы. При этом с самого начала уместно подчеркнуть, что от подобных кризисов не застрахован ни один великий народ, тем более в такой переходный период, который в настоящее время переживает современный мир. Но вопрос состоит в том, как то или иное государство реагирует на вызовы и угрозы, порожденные переходным периодом.
4 Было бы большой ошибкой полагать, что на президентских выборах 2020 г. борьба за кресло в Белом доме шла исключительно между Дж. Байденом и Д. Трампом и в более широком смысле между Республиканской и Демократической партиями. Суть проблемы кроется в определении векторов развития современного Запада, личности Трампа и Байдена играют значимую роль как символы этих векторов. Множество факторов свидетельствовали о том, что под разговорами об исключительности и монолитности скрывался глубинный раскол Америки, колоссальные внутренние проблемы, ее разъединяющие. Еще в своей книге “Смерть Запада” известный американский политический деятель и аналитик П. Бьюкенен писал про “два народа, две страны”, про то, что “старая Америка уходит, зато новая набирает силу” [2]. Рассуждая в том же духе, руководитель республиканского меньшинства в Сенате С. МакКоннелл в своей статье в журнале The National Interest, писал: “…страна надломлена в такой степени, что возникшие противоречия слишком серьезны, чтобы разумные и нормальные политики сумели их преодолеть” [3]. А по замечанию Е. Бродоу, на пути вступления в 2021 г. создается впечатление, говоря словами Шекспира, “все сгнило в Датском королевстве” [4].
