Abstract

The coronavirus pandemic undoubtedly has been changing many economic and social characteristics of Spain. This article is dedicated to the analysis of possible changes in investment attractiveness of the country caused by the COVID-19 propagation and connected restrictions of activity for citizens and enterprises. In other words, they were grouped to depict expected and real economic, social and technological changes. As a result of the study, both negative and positive impact of the coronavirus pandemic on characteristics of the country that are important for foreign investors was found. For instance, tougher investment legislation and slightly growing public discontent with the government lead to deterioration of the country’s investment attractiveness, but efficient preparation of a wide range of measures supporting business and society improves it. Economic decline and life worsening of Spanish population may cause a decrease of foreign investors’ interest in the country, but availability of infrastructure for remote work and growing state interest in developing science and technology may increase it. The main limitation of this research consists in a high level of uncertainty regarding the pandemic situation in Spain during the article creation.
