Rapid economic growth, acceleration of urbanization processes, improvement of the economic component of people’s lives, in turn, led to a significant increase in production forces and the number of vehicles, as a result of which there is an aggravation of environmental problems, including the consequences of climate change, which are increasingly felt in people’s lives. These circumstances have led to special public interest in the problems of ecology and environmental protection, which created the appropriate prerequisites for the “greening” of the new edition of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan of 2023. The Constitution, which is the most important, main legal act of the country, reflects its main value guidelines and priority directions of state policy. The author of the article confirms the correctness of strengthening the constitutional and legal foundations of environmental protection, as well as giving constitutional and legal status to the environmental rights of citizens.

The work analyzes in detail new norms and innovations of the Basic Law of Uzbekistan related to environmental issues, as well as their significance in the legal regulation of public relations in the field of ecology. The author has identified four main areas of constitutional regulation of environmental legal relations, which generally correspond to the best practices of foreign countries. In preparing the work, such scientific methods of analysis as historical, systemic, and comparative analysis were used. The author conducts a detailed comparative analysis of the environmental provisions of the basic laws of foreign countries, systematizing them in separate groups. The issue of upcoming tasks for the implementation of new “green” norms of the new edition of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan is also being considered. In general, a critical revision of the current legislation is necessary in order to consolidate in them specific mechanisms for the full implementation of constitutional innovations and detail the order and procedure for their implementation.
